Norrie Bryson 1934 - 2023

Norrie Bryson was one of our longest serving members, driving our Boroughmuir club forward at every opportunity.

In the late 1970s, Norrie was our U21 Team Manager and Coach. His influence ensured many young players developed strong rugby values and respect for our club, teammates, opposition and refs. Many of the players he coached then are still at the club now. That is one of the many legacies Norrie has left Boroughmuir.

Norrie was our Honorary Secretary from 1980 to 1983 and President from 1986 to 1988 during a period of great change at the club.

Norrie was always fund raising for Boroughmuir and had a great passion for youth rugby.

Norrie was a big family man and is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his two daughters, Sheenagh and Fiona, plus two grand-children and five great grand-children.

Thanks to a generous legacy by Norrie’s wife Barbara and the rest of the Bryson family, a new annual Youth section award has been established

Each Midis age group (initially boys, but girls soon too) will select their age group winner and the U18s boy’s selection will be the annual Award Winner

Each age group winner will receive an Oak & Black trophy to keep, plus a ball

The overall winner, from the U18s, will also get the new Norrie Bryson trophy for the following year, with all each season’s winners displayed on a new awards panel
