Boroughmuir Celebrates Triple U18 Scotland Selection

Congratulations to three talented Boroughmuir Rugby players - Harry Jackaman, Will Lockhart and Ellen Nimmo - who have been selected for the Scotland Under 18 Men’s and Women’s teams for the upcoming U18s Six Nations Festival!

A fantastic achievement for each player and fitting reward for all their hard work that all in the club are proud of. To welcome this news, I caught up with Stevie Douglas, Club President and asked him about this.

Stevie said “I’m dead chuffed for the players coaches and their parents. It reflects that what

we’re doing here as a club delivers for players. Boroughmuir Rugby’s Academy has been

investing in a player focused approach, with highly capable coaches.

"So far this year 12 of our current Under 18s male players have had their debut in senior

rugby, with four playing for our First XV in must win National One matches. Harry and Will

are two of these, and both of them were so impressive that they won man of the match

awards.

“The positive progress and development this year with the Banshees is something I’m

particularly proud of, and to see Ellen make the Under 18 W6N Scotland side is the latest in

a long line of good news stories that the Banshees keep turning out. Long may it continue.

Good luck to Harry, Will and Ellen, and we’re all behind you”.

I also caught up with Alex Toolis, Boroughmuir Academy & Performance Manager, to find out more about each of the players journeys to becoming under 18 Scotland Internationalists.

Alex said "Ellen started her rugby journey at Boroughmuir and came through the pathway and has blossomed into a strong future prospect. It's great to see her receive international honours to represent Scotland at the U18s Women's Six Nations Festival. She represents the best of the club both on and off the pitch. Ellen will be the first-ever Women's Six Nations representative at Boroughmuir which is a fantastic achievement.

"Both Will and Harry joined Boroughmuir as Midi players. Will had come up through the Minis at Heriots and Harry at Lasswade. Their attitude, work ethic and passion for Rugby has been clear from the get-go, and we’re proud to foster such talented players at Boroughmuir.

“As well as playing for their respective age groups, taking part in our player development

programme, they have also followed the same path at the SRU level. Both joined the SRU pathway at Under 15, both played for Scotland Under 18 in a Development camp in Wales. Both were part of Gregor Townsend’s National Academy in 2024, and in the Under 18 Scotland training camp for the past few months, these two have both made huge progress.

"Both Will and Harry made their Senior Rugby 1st XV this season and became vital members of the squad. Both have received man of the match awards throughout the season which is a tough achievement for their age. Seeing Will and Harry progress through the ranks is a positive reflection on Boroughmuir's pathway and the club's player approach. It has been great working with them both at Boroughmuir and via the regional pathways to see them develop and receive international opportunities. Well done and congratulations!

“I, along with all those who have coached them, am super proud of their achievements and

I’m excited to watch them make debut for the Scotland Under 18s.”

Everyone at the Club is delighted for them all, and we’ll be supporting them during the two

festivals from 10 to 19 April.
