Boroughmuir Announces First Stage of Change Management to Strengthen Future Growth and Unity

Boroughmuir Rugby & Community Sports Club (BRCSC) has announced the first stage of an exciting change management process led by Strategy and Transformation Manager, Hannah Grainger, marking a new chapter in the club’s ongoing journey to strengthen its structure, culture, and community impact.

Rooted in the club’s new vision, mission and values, this transformation reflects Boroughmuir’s commitment to becoming “One Club, One Culture & One Community” - a leading force in Scottish rugby that unites and develops people through sport, champions excellence, and builds deep, lasting connections across the club and wider community.

“This is an important moment for Boroughmuir,” said Hannah Grainger, Strategy and Transformation Manager. “Our goal is to ensure that every part of the club - from grassroots to high performance - works together with shared purpose, transparency, and ambition. We are building a structure that reflects our values, strengthens governance, and empowers our people to deliver the best possible experience for members, players, and our community.”

A Shared Vision, Built Together

The new vision, mission, and values were developed through a collaborative process involving key members of the club, including representatives from across the Boroughmuir boards, staff, coaches, and long-standing volunteers. This united effort ensured that the direction for the future truly reflects the shared spirit, history, and ambitions of the entire Boroughmuir community.

“This wasn’t written by one person - it was built together,” added Hannah Grainger. “Our leadership team and board members have been instrumental in shaping the future direction of the club.”

Our Vision

To be a leading force in Scottish rugby, uniting and developing people through sport, championing excellence and building deep, lasting connections across our club and community.

Our Mission

At Boroughmuir, we exist to provide an ambitious and commercially sustainable club where rugby and communities come together and flourish.

We champion rugby as a way to connect and grow, welcoming players of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to a club where everyone feels they belong.

We support inclusion and development at every level, from grassroots to competitive play, while investing in stand-out coaching, progressive culture, and enriching the health and vitality of our wider community.

We take pride in what we achieve together on and off the pitch and are committed to evolving and improving to keep Boroughmuir strong; now and in the future.

Our Core Values

  1. Ambition: We strive for excellence on and off the field, with clear goals and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  2. Community: We are more than rugby; we also foster the spirit of community, connection, belonging and well-being.

  3. Integrity: We act with honesty, trust, and accountability in all that we do.

  4. Openness and Inclusivity: We listen actively and create space for everyone to contribute.

To strengthen leadership and accountability across the organisation, Boroughmuir Rugby & Community Sports Club has restructured its governance into three dedicated boards:

  1. Executive BRCSC Charity Board

  2. Boroughmuir Ltd. Board

  3. Rugby Board (newly established)

This structure ensures clarity of purpose and effective oversight across our charitable, commercial, and rugby operations, while reflecting our commitment to transparency, inclusion, and long-term sustainability.
