Boroughmuir Welcomes Stevie Leckie as New Head Coach of 1st XV

Boroughmuir Rugby & Community Sports Club is excited to announce the appointment of Stevie Leckie as the new Head Coach of the 1st XV ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Stevie brings a wealth of coaching experience and energy to Boroughmuir. A respected figure in Scottish club rugby, Stevie most recently served as Head Coach at Falkirk RFC. He has also previously coached Royal High RFC and has been involved with Scottish Rugby’s pathway programmes, focusing on scrum-half development as a specialist skills coach.

Off the pitch, Stevie lives in Haddington and works as a joiner by trade. Away from rugby, Stevie’s favourite film is Shawshank Redemption, and he’s a big fan of Meat Loaf - further proof that intensity and passion are part of his DNA. Known for his passion for player development, Stevie’s coaching philosophy is simple yet effective “Give the players the tools they need and let them play what’s in front of them.”

His goal for the upcoming season is clear - to help as many Boroughmuir teams as possible win their respective leagues, continuing the club’s proud tradition of competitive and exciting rugby.

As we welcome Stevie to the club, we would also like to take a moment to express our sincere thanks to outgoing Head Coach Graham Shiel. Graham has been outstanding during his time with Boroughmuir, showing dedication, integrity, and a genuine love for the game and our players. His efforts both on and off the pitch have made a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for his contribution to the club’s journey.

Director of Rugby, Neill Wood said: “We are delighted to welcome Stevie Leckie aboard as Head Coach. Stevie has a wealth of coaching experience and is keen to help Boroughmuir continue to develop our players. He is looking forward to helping Boroughmuir get back to the top of Scottish Rugby.”

Stevie Douglas, President, added: “We’re very pleased to bring Stevie Leckie into the club. He was strongly recommended and brings a great mix of experience, passion, and player-focused coaching. Stevie will build on the excellent work Graham Shiel has done over recent seasons, and we're confident he’ll continue to promote our commitment to youth development and inclusive rugby across the club.”

The club looks forward to a successful season under Stevie’s leadership and encourages all supporters to get behind him and the team as we build towards a bright future.
