Lifting the Club: Raising Money for a Stronger Future

On 26 April Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club approved a proposed extension of the gym at our clubhouse. 

Work will start in May with a planned completion date in August to deliver this new and exciting expansion that will allow more space to accommodate our under 16 and under 18s, the Bears Academy for 17 to 23 year olds and the Senior player demand for gym time.

This video explains the benefits of the investment that we have agreed and which will lead to a step change in the gym time we are able to offer to club members.

With a planned cost of £180,000 and part-funding already in place including support from SRU, at the EGM it was unanimously agreed that the Board could take a loan of up to £100,000 to fund the remainder of this development. The smaller the loan we have to take out the better, and to help we are looking to fund raise through our 100 for 100 fundraising campaign which aims to raise £100,000 to celebrate 100 years of Boroughmuir being at Meggetland. The fund will go directly to the project to upgrade the gym, enhance our clubhouse and expand our community outreach. 

A donation website has been set-up to help drive our fundraising for the gym extension. To help kick things off, everyone who makes a contribution through this link, big or small will automatically be entered to win a pair of tickets for an Autumn test match at Murrayfield later this year.

There is also the opportunity to purchase a personalised ceramic tile that will be displayed on a feature wall within the expanded gym facility. This special initiative allows you to customise an engraved ceramic tile with your own message - whether it's your name, a tribute, or a memory. For many of us who have waited a long time for this development, we feel this is the perfect way for everyone to mark their own contribution to the future of the club!

With our £100,000 target in mind a coordinated campaign will manage our fundraising efforts in a range of ways including activity at the clubhouse and through our newsletters and social channels. We'll let you know more about in the coming weeks.
