Meggetland Pitch Upgrade Plans Mark Major Step Forward For BRCSC

Boroughmuir Rugby and Community Sports Club welcomes the news this week, that City of Edinburgh Council has submitted a planning application to support the upgrade of two key Meggetland pitches.

As part of early-stage work, under the proposed plans our main pitch would move from grass to synthetic turf, and the existing astro football pitch would be resurfaced.

This is something the club has been working on with our key partners for a number of years, and is part of our ongoing efforts to improve facilities for both our members and the wider community.

The proposed upgrades would increase pitch capacity, creating more space for training and matches, supporting the continued growth of the club, including our ambition to develop a women’s team.

Club President, Stevie Douglas said: “This is an exciting milestone for the club and reflects years of work behind the scenes. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in getting us to this stage.

“There’s still more to do, particularly around securing funding, but this is real progress. The potential to increase pitch capacity could be transformational, creating more opportunities for players and supporting our plans to grow, including developing a women’s team.

“We want to build momentum behind this now, so we’re focused on working with partners to turn that potential into reality.”

While the project is not fully confirmed until funding is secured, this is a really positive move in the right direction, and we’ll keep you updated as things move forward.
